Osipova OTK

Natalia Osipova’s debut in La Fille Mal Gardée got mixed notices. The Telegraph reviewer found her performance a little too ‘Russian’: technically brilliant but failing to catch the essential humor of the ballet. Really? But she looks so sweet:

Contrariwise, the same critic felt that Philip Mosley overplayed the comedy in his role of Widow Simone, and unkindly described him as ‘like a boxing promoter in a frock’. There’s no satisfying some people, is there?

But never mind, the Guardian reviewer had a sunnier outlook on Osipova’s ‘perky and gamine’ Lise, and The Independent mentioned her ‘oh-do-I-have-to teenaged disdain’ as Lise churned the milk. And isn’t that just what you’d expect from a girl who needs…
