Kerstin Elster is a Maastricht-trained, Aachen-based photographer and DJ, who specializes in photomanipulation to create a kind of surreal, dreamy fantasy.
Her imagery, even in more conventional work, tends to be dark and macabre, which accounts for the striking ‘horror make-up’ used by one of the models in what might otherwise be a standard-issue Bettie Page tribute photograph she took in 2012.
